Physically Motivated Approximation to a Parton Distribution Function in QCD
It has been suggested that parton distributions in coordinate space, so called Ioffe-time distributions, provide a more natural object for non-perturbative methods compared to the usual momentum distributions. In this paper we argue that the shape of experimentally determined Ioffe-time distributions of quarks in a nucleon target clearly indicates separation of longitudinal scales, which is not...
متن کاملA QCD Analysis of Polarised Parton Densities
We present the results of a QCD fit to global data on deep-inelastic polarised lepton-hadron scattering. We find that it is possible to fit the data with strongly broken SU(2) flavour for the polarised sea densities. This can easily be tested in W production at polarised RHIC. The data fails to pin down polarised singlet sea quark and gluon densities. We explore the uncertainties in detail and ...
متن کاملQCD matrix elements + parton showers
We propose a method for combining QCD matrix elements and parton showers in Monte Carlo simulations of hadronic final states in ee annihilation. The matrix element and parton shower domains are separated at some value yini of the jet resolution, defined according to the kT -clustering algorithm. The matrix elements are modified by Sudakov form factors and the parton showers are subjected to a v...
متن کاملDouble parton distributions in the leading logarithm approximation of perturbative QCD
Recent CDF measurements of the inclusive cross section for a double parton scattering attach a great importance to any theoretical calculations of two-particle distribution functions. Using a parton interpretation of the leading logarithm diagrams of perturbative QCD theory, generalized Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi-Dokshitzer equations for the two-parton distributions are re-obtained. The solutions...
متن کاملParton Distributions from Lattice QCD
We extract the x dependence of the valence nonsinglet u − d distribution function in the nucleon from the lowest few moments calculated on the lattice, using an extrapolation formula which ensures the correct behavior in the chiral and heavy quark limits. We discuss the implications for the quark mass dependence of meson masses lying on the J P C = 1 −− Regge trajectory.
